So What Is The Gap?
The issues and impact of abuse are complex and far reaching into every community -- both secular and religious. There are no easy answers or solutions toward effective prevention of, or recovery from, abuse and violence.
Within religious communities there are significant gaps in understanding how to respond to women and children victimized by abuse, particularly within the home or family.
Within professional/mental health communities there are significant gaps in understanding the spiritual aspects and questions that surface in dealing with abused women and children.
BTG's Philosophy
Abuse -- whether emotional, physical, sexual or spiritual -- leaves people with physical, psychological and spiritual scars. The road to healing and recovery must reach across each of these areas -- leaving no gaps -- in addressing the wounds and needs of the whole person.
BTG's Mission Bridge The Gap between religious and professional/mental health communities in addressing the issues of abuse and violence against women and children. Build Bridges throughout communities at-large, across denominational and racial divides, to lead the way in abuse-prevention and recovery. In every way possible, in every school, church, synagogue and home, to consistently deliver the message, "There's No Excuse For Abuse!". To be living examples of Christ's love and compassion in all we say and do.
